CyrusOne's MAD1 occupies Plot 5A in the Valdelacasa area of Alcobendas, just north of Madrid, and is the operator's first data center in Spain. The two-story building holds 6,000 sqm of technical space and 18 MW of IT capacity, split across two separate 9 MW electrical plants — one per data hall — on an active/active dual-redundant power supply. Cooling uses closed-loop water systems. CyrusOne describes the building itself as BREEAM "Excellent" certified, with an operational-phase target of BREEAM "Very Good" plus ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 once the site is fully commissioned. Sustainability measures include rooftop solar photovoltaics, 100% renewable electricity, a Zero Waste to Landfill program, rainwater recovery and low-water landscaping. No public opening year is stated on the operator's facility page.
