ScaleMatrix San Diego (US-WEST 01)

ScaleMatrix operates its flagship San Diego data center at 5775 Kearny Villa Road, a 50,000-square-foot facility originally built in 1995 and substantially renovated in 2008. The site provides up to 5 MW of aggregate power availability today, with the underlying utility infrastructure upgradeable to more than 20 MW as demand grows. Cooling combines a chilled-water plant with ScaleMatrix's hybrid liquid/air approach, reflecting the operator's background in high-density deployments rather than a purely air-cooled design. The facility is built out for roughly 1,100 standard 45U cabinets, serving colocation customers across the San Diego region alongside ScaleMatrix's other US and European sites. Compliance coverage includes SSAE-16 SOC 1 Type 2, SSAE-18 SOC 2 and SOC 3 Type 2 audits, PCI DSS v3.2, HITRUST and HIPAA. ScaleMatrix markets the design as 'Tier 3+,' a self-described standard rather than an Uptime Institute certification — the operator does not appear on the Uptime Institute's public awards registry for this site. The facility competes in a San Diego market otherwise dominated by a single DataBank building among nationally branded operators.
