Equinix SY9x

SY9x is Equinix's first xScale data center in Sydney, developed through the operator's joint venture with PGIM Real Estate and opened in June 2022 in Rosehill, adjacent to the Western Sydney CBD of Parramatta. The three-storey precast-concrete facility currently provides more than 14 MW of power capacity and is engineered to scale past 28 MW at full build-out, aimed at hyperscale cloud and content platforms that need large single-tenant deployments rather than retail colocation suites. Equinix positions SY9x as a way for existing customers on its global platform to add core hyperscale capacity while retaining interconnection back to the operator's retail Sydney IBX sites. The site carries the standard ISO 9001, 14001, 22301, 27001 and 50001 management-system certifications alongside PCI DSS and SOC 1/2 Type II attestations, N+1 power redundancy and a minimum cabinet density of 14kVA — well above the 2-4kVA typical of Equinix's older Sydney retail sites. It marked the operator's push into the Western Sydney data-center corridor around Rosehill and Eastern Creek.
