NBO1 opened in September 2019 as iColo's Nairobi One facility, marketed at the time as the first truly carrier-neutral data centre in Nairobi and built around a 280-rack colocation floor with 624 m² of customer space, plus a satellite teleport for transmission equipment. iColo rebranded fully to Digital Realty in September 2026, alongside the launch of a second building, NBO2, on the same site. Digital Realty's current published specification for NBO1 lists 1,450 m² of space with N+2 cooling redundancy, connectivity to over 70 network and cloud providers, and PCI DSS and ISO 27001 certification, addressed on Langata South Road at its junction with LRC Road. The Nairobi campus serves as a hub for East Africa's connectivity, enterprise and financial-services customers, competing with Africa Data Centres' NBO1 and IXAfrica's newer Mombasa Road campus for the region's carrier-neutral colocation demand. Digital Realty does not publish a power capacity figure for the building.
