Equinix AD1

Equinix entered the Abu Dhabi market with AD1, an IBX retail colocation site housed inside a Khazna wholesale data center in Masdar City. The arrangement gives Equinix customers a carrier-neutral interconnection point in the UAE capital without Equinix building a standalone shell: Khazna provides the building and critical infrastructure, while Equinix operates the colocation space, cross-connect environment and access to its global platform, including Equinix Fabric for software-defined interconnection to clouds and networks. Published directory data puts the Equinix footprint at roughly 1 MW of power and about 1,679 sq ft (approximately 156 sqm) of colocation space, so this is an interconnection and network-edge site rather than a large-capacity deployment. It suits carriers, content providers and enterprises that need an Abu Dhabi point of presence with in-country data residency and a path onto the Equinix ecosystem, with larger wholesale requirements handled by Khazna elsewhere on the same campus.
