Telekom Malaysia and Singtel's Nxera unit broke ground in July 2024 on a joint-venture, AI-ready data centre campus in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, inside the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone roughly 17 km from the Singapore border. TM Nxera secured a 280 MW multi-year electricity supply agreement with Tenaga Nasional in January 2026 to back a campus designed for more than 200 MW of scalable IT capacity, using advanced liquid cooling for high-density AI workloads. The first building topped out structurally in April 2026, and TM Nxera has targeted the first phase for commercial operations in the second half of 2026. The developers are targeting Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.30 or better at full load, Uptime Institute Tier III design standards, and LEED certification for sustainability. Connectivity runs over TM and Singtel Digital InfraCo's terrestrial fibre and subsea cable networks, positioning the campus to serve cloud hyperscalers and GPU-as-a-service tenants seeking Singapore-adjacent capacity without Singapore's land and power constraints.
