Why prices sit where they do

Malaysia — specifically Johor, across the strait from Singapore — is where the capacity Singapore could not permit actually got built. The catalog tracks more facilities here than in any other market we cover, concentrated in Johor Bahru, Kulai and Iskandar Puteri, plus the older Cyberjaya cluster near Kuala Lumpur. The economics are the arbitrage: commercial electricity at $0.129/kWh is roughly half Singapore's $0.262, land is available, and Kuala Lumpur sits 8 ms from Singapore — close enough that a tenant can keep interconnection on the island and put bulk compute here. What buyers should check is grid and water readiness rather than the headline rate: the Johor build-out has outpaced local utility upgrades in places, and delivery dates slip on power energisation more often than on construction.

Frequently asked questions

How much does colocation cost in Malaysia?

No published wholesale $/kW benchmark exists for Malaysia yet, so we show nothing rather than an estimate. What is verifiable: the catalog tracks 85 facilities here. Run at least three quotes in parallel — where no benchmark is published, individual offers vary far more.

Why is colocation priced the way it is in Malaysia?

Commercial electricity in Malaysia is $0.135 per kWh, and power is the largest single input into a colocation rate. On top of that sit land and grid-connection availability, interconnection density, and how much capacity competes for the same tenants — 85 facilities in our catalog, 26 of them announced or under construction.

Where is colocation cheaper near Malaysia?

On power alone, Indonesia ($0.063/kWh), Thailand ($0.128/kWh) run below Malaysia. Whether that becomes a cheaper contract depends on how much interconnection the workload needs — the comparison table shows what latency the move would cost.
