Syntys — the infrastructure arm carved out of Ooredoo Group's regional data center operations — acquired Q Data QFZ LLC from Doha Venture Capital, a subsidiary of the Qatar Free Zones Authority, in January 2026. The deal brought two Tier III-certified, carrier-neutral data center buildings inside Qatar's Free Zones under Syntys' management, with a combined 12.5 MW of capacity: roughly 5 MW already live and revenue-generating at the time of acquisition, and a further 7.5 MW under development. Individual building names and exact addresses were not disclosed in the acquisition announcement. For Ooredoo, folding Q Data into Syntys extends the group's push to build out MENA data center capacity — Syntys has stated a target of more than 120 MW of installed capacity across the region by 2030 — while giving Qatar Free Zones tenants and other enterprise customers a wholesale and colocation option distinct from Ooredoo's older, smaller QDC retail data centers elsewhere in Doha.
