Availability in India: what the numbers do and do not say
Published megawatts describe how facilities are designed, not how much power is available to a new customer today. Vacancy is confirmed only in an operator's proposal for a specific hall and ready-for-service date. Where operators have told Coloprice that a market is sold out to a date, the facility cards say so; otherwise assume nothing and ask each provider the same question.
What the colocation price includes — and what it does not
- Included in the base fee: rack or cabinet space, a committed power circuit, cooling, physical security, and usually a basic remote-hands allowance.
- Billed separately: metered electricity above the allowance (or a per-kWh rate on retail contracts), cross-connects, IP transit, additional remote hands, and one-off setup or installation fees.
- Wholesale contracts add annual escalators, ramp schedules and power-commitment minimums; retail contracts add overage rates and bandwidth caps. Compare providers on the same committed kW, density, term and connectivity.
